If I have to choose out of those 4 then it is Eminem. However, back in the day I loved Everlast - with or without House Of Pain

I don't know if I'd count Eminem. I mean he was huge in 1999 but he's still big today and brought back mainstream rap. But he would be best on that list :)

I also think Vanilla doesn't quite fit. I see him more as a holdover of corporate, manufactured 80s music, despite him being rap. He's really more in the NKOTB than Eminem league.

I'm suprised that nobody has mentioned The Beastie Boys... 8)
Though I like a very few from Eminem
The only thing I like about Vanilla Ice is that he destroyed his own music video on "MTV 25 Lame" in 1999... ::) :P

how were the beastie boys left out?
i still kinda consider eminem more 00, i mean he did really good in 1999, but he wasn't more popular than Jay-Z or DMX or No limit at the time. He was that white guy that can actually rap. But when all that controversy around the 2nd album in 2000 happened, boom, he's suddenly the best rapper ever and the best-selling rapper.

first of all those are not the only white rappers.
there are good white rappers like:  eminem,remedy,awol one, shapeshifters (group of white rappers),slug,and eyedea
check some of those out you will probably like them people

Gotta vote with my fellow Canuck Snow. His 90's songs got greatly overplayed, but they were still excellent. I really liked his 2000 hit The Plumb Song. I saw him live at a Waterfront Festival a few years ago. It's (so far) my only claim to seeing a concert ;D
I also liked Everlast :)
