Subject: Hope You're Not Getting Tired of This

Do you think the 1990s are more like the 1980s or the 2000s?  I think 90-94 is more like the 80s, 95 and 96 halfway between 80s and 00s, and 97-99 more 00s.  But overall?  Really halfway, perhaps a TAD more like today.  Although the 2000s are more 80s than the 90s were.

By lifestyle/tech I'd say 90-95 is more 80s (no PS, Nintendo 64, Internet luxury not necessity), but 96-99 is more todayish.

By attitude different from either, but definitely more 00s.  In the 80s everyone under 30 wanted to be edgy.  In the 90s (and today) everyone under 13 wants to, and anyone older takes it for granted.  While I think today overall has more violence/sex on TV than the 90s, the 90s had more on mainstream cable.  The 90s and early 00s are liberal, freegoing, let anything on TV (not all a good thing).  Now were starting to get back into 80s PC.

Also, in the 90s minorities began to get special rights from lawsuits, whereas in the 80s you could "smear the queer" and nobody would care.

Style and culture?  55% 00s, 45% 80s, but not like either.

I agree with the 80s thing, but I think the 90s left on 9-11-01.  Even in 1999 teen pop and nu-metal came on the scene, the Matrix came and reinvented the movie world, and Clinton was almost done in office. the 90s werlate 1991 to late 2001, the 2000s started in 2002.

Just my two cents :)

Nothing has changed or progressed in the last four years.

I'd have to agree.  We're not stuck in 1999 (though the last 2-3 yrs of the 90s SUCKED A$$ and did no justice to the bulk of the decade).  Were stuck in 2001.  2005 might as well be the dawn of the decade. Let's see what 2007 brings ...

The world didn't begin with the 80s and then advance from there.  Sometimes I get the impression that some kids think it did.

This topic is a matter of perspective, Chris.

I rarely look at things like when decades began/end but I get the feeling that the 80s ended at the start of 1992. However, this feeling is one of personal memories and of no factual importance to anyone.

It started with the fifties, damnit! That's why we have a religion based around the Beaver! He showed us how to be excellent to eachother! His second coming was Corey Matthews!
