Ooh this one's tough!
I'm just not going to go by most popular band or whatever. There were alot of good 90s singers and songs that people ingnored because they were more into the " made popular by the media" ones at the time.
So," wild orchid- Talk to me" is my pick! Even though the group or their songs didn't get the attention they deserved :-\\

I'll list some candidates
"Counting Blue Cars" by Dishwalla (1996)
"The World I Know" by Collective Soul (1996)
"Lightning Crashes" by Live (1995)
"Nutshell" by Alice In Chains (1994)
"Cryin'" by Aerosmtih (1993)
"Glycerine" by Bush (1996)
"Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth With Money In My Hand" by Primitive Radio Gods (1996)
"My Hero" by Foo Fighters (1997)
"One Headlight" by The Wallflowers (1997)
"How's It Gonna Be" by Third Eye Blind (1997)
"Crash Into Me" by Dave Matthews Band (1997)
"Bitter Sweet Symphony" by The Verve (1998)
"I've Been Thinking About You" by Londonbeat (1991)
"Life Is A Highway" by Tom Cochrane (1992)
"Love's Taken Over" by Chante Moore (1993)
"Black Hole Sun" by Soundgarden (1994)
Ok, so out of that list, I would give the edge to "Counting Blue Cars" by Dishwalla, with "Cryin" by Aerosmith coming in at a close 2nd
