Given a choice between the those two, definitely the '90s. But the 80's were the absolute best.

The 90s, mostly the early part of it. Until about 1998, after that everything became weird and boring.

the 90s, and 1999 was still a great year, even though it was the peak of the teen pop era, but its not like thats all it was. But maybe if we quit with the OC knockoffs and some of the stupid Reality TV shows, and Paris Hilton, and St. Louis Rappers, hey we can have a good 2nd half of the 00s.

The 90's....definately! My Denver Broncos though starting the 90's with another HUGE loss in the Super Bowl....ended the decade with back-to-back Titles in 1998 and 1999...also the Colorado Avalanche won the Stanley Cup in 1996..they did win again in 2001 but I really HATE that year :\'(

The 90s. Sure there was violence on TV but not as much as today and crime rates were falling throughout most of the decade. The economy was also more stable and pop culture had more depth to it.

Overall the '90s, there just wasn't as much of fear as there is today, you didn't have to hear about war and terrorism everyday. TV programming was also better. Top 40 music was better as well.

Yeah today is way too political. In the 90s you wouldn't be shunned for belonging to a different political party then someone else like you would now. I do like politics but today is just overkill.
TV has REALLY changed since the 90s, more than any other facet of the media. Today is all reality junk and animated sitcoms. 90s had little reality and a bunch of stuff.

One of the big concerns of the '90s was the president letting down his zipper in the oval office for monica, I mean all that was on the news for like 2 years was about Clinton's stupid stain. Compared to now, it's a constant suicide bombing, or dying soldiers, nuclear concerns.

I would say the 90s, but that's probably because it was the decade I came of age, so I have nostalgic sentimental attatchment to it. Although, I can see how a lot of people thought the decade culture-wise was boring; most of these people tend to be in their mid-thirties now, and ito them it probably wasn't as exciting as the 80s, their coming-of-age decade. The way they felt about the 90s is the way I feel about this decade. Maybe because I'm older, I guess; the 2000s so far have just been blah, particularly as far as music and TV are concerned.

I'd say 1994/95 to 2001 was the worst period for media violence; most of the 90s had less violence than the 80s, although there was more youth violence in the 90s. Today real crime is pretty low and media violence is falling.

This depends on what you are referring to, rather it be personal life, politics, violence, music, etc. For MUSIC, the 90s blows away the 2000s by a huge margin. Does EVERY SINGLE NEW ARTIST NEED A DANCE ENSEMBLE TO MAKE A VIDEO NOW?
PS- MTV ceased to be " music " somewhere mid/late 90s, and anytime I flip it on now it is because it is between channels " C " and " E " ( in other words, I get to catch a brief glance of how MutilatedTV is doing ).

Hands down, the 90s for me. May have had a lot to do with the fact that I was a young adult out on my own and had life by the reins, but those were some of the best years of my life. IMO, music was much better then too. Alternative is still my fav and in the 90s, we got Juliana Hatfield, Sugar, Letters to Cleo, Belly....the list goes on. Also, I know a lot of people knock it, but I'm a huge grunge fan also and I think it's an important part of music history. Bands got a conscience again with grunge. The 80s was all party and excess and in the 90s, we got involved environmentally, politically and mentally. And even though they technically came in the late 90s, the 2000s have what I refer to as "crap" music like Britney, NSynch, etc. Music with no heart, just fluffy ear candy. The world of politics sucks right now, the economy is down, we're always just a minute away from another war. I felt safer and much, much happier in the 90s. Is it wrong to sleep with a flannel shirt as your security blanket??

The 90s!
The economy was much better, the music(although it still wasn't my taste) was more agreeable, I kind of liked some of the fashion from the first half of the decade(its better than the lowrider jeans, spiked belts and bracelets, capri pants, trucker hats, and all of the other weird crap of today), I liked the classic video games of the 90s better overall(Sonic, and Mortal Kombat!). Although I DO like today's cars better. Its a close race in the movie arena, but I say the 90s had a slight advantage there too.
The 90s had better network TV, and Nick was better..but Comedy Central and TV Land are both cool today.

In America, the '90s. Although it may be challenged soon, the period from October 1990 to March 2000 remains the longest economic expansion in history, and this is contrast to the 2000s, where the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down for the entire decade, something that never occurred since the 1930s depression. Most of the big technological shifts we associated with the 2000s, such as the rise of the Internet, mobile communications, and portable music, got their start or heyday in the '90s. Movies were less about special effects and more about story and more diverse in genres, not just the horror/action flicks that dominate this century in terms of popularity. TV, while less diverse, was IMO its best balance since by the '90s, cable had not just come of age, but emerge as a competitor to OTA TV with their own original programming. Music of course was a lot more diverse and inventive, and buying physical music was still something you really had to buy as oppose to just download. The 2000s set the table very pretentious atmosphere we live in now compared to the more laidback '90s, and even at the time following the crazed '80s, felt so at the time.

It was hard for me to choose. The 2000s were a good decade for me in my personal life(except 2004).
I'm going to say culturally, the 1990s were better. And I grew up during that time. So yeah, both decades were equally great!

I have to go with the ‘90s. The ‘90s had memorable clothing brands (I.e. - B.U.M. Equipment, Cross Colors, and Z. Cavaricci), good sitcoms, unforgottable slang, and classic films that are still shown in schools today.

Movies: I pick the 90's.
Music: No question for me, the 1990's.
TV: The 00's.
Atmosphere: The 1990's.
So overall, the 1990's, for me.
