What is your favourite one hit wonder of the 90s?
These are from the top of my head so if any of these groups had more than one hit in your country, city, neighbourhood, head, please accept my apologies :)

Hate to break it to ya, but Fastball is NOT a one hit wonder. They had a few other hits such as "Fire Escape" , "Out Of My Head" , and "You're An Ocean" .
Of those listed, I haven't made up my mind yet.

Yes. Haunting chords and the video was alright as well.
'The one and only' - Chesney Hawkes (a bit 'sappy' but I like it). After that, he seemed to drop off the face of the earth.
'Sweat (la la la la long)' - Inner Circle. The band that did 'Bad boys' (only got to number 52 in Britain), only had one hit - I believe suggestive lyrics propelled this one to number 3.

You're not wrong. You're absolutely correct. The Verve and the Verve Pipe are definitely two different bands.
However, the Verve Pipe has had more than one hit. While "Freshmen" was their only 90s hit, they had a hit in the 2000s called "I Will Never Let You Down," which came out in 2001.

it's really hard to say what truly is a one hit wonder. Billboard considers only one entry ever on the Hot 100 chart I believe. here are some of my favorite one hit wonders:
Mark Morrison-return of the mack (not sure if "Crazy" ever charted though)
The Cardigans-Lovefool
Fool's Garden-Lemon Tree (Many hits outside the US)
Mr.President-Coco Jambo (Ditto)
Jai-heaven
The Dwellers-Rocket Ride (i remember hearing that one on the radio, never charted i don't think)
Gina G-Ooh Ah,Just a little Bit
Jellyhead-Crush
Big Mountain-Baby I love your Way

Sorry Jamie, but Presidents were not 1HW's. They also charted with "Peaches" and their cover of "Video Killed The Radio Star" from The Wedding Singer's soundtrack.
Here are two that deserved to be 1HW's!
Meredith Brooks: I'm A B**ch (She wanted to change the meaning of the word? B.S.! She just resorted to cheap controversy just to sell a few records!)
Crash Test Dummies: MMM MMM MMM MMM (Talk about bad songwriting! And how were fans supposed to request that song in concert?)
And a few others I remember, but not necessarily liked. You'll be able to tell:
Gerardo: Rico Suave 8>S
Londonbeat: I've Been Thinking About You 8>)
Triplets: You Don't Have To Go Home 8>)
Blind Melon: No Rain 8>(
Blessid Union Of Souls: I Believe 8>)
Tom Cochrane: Life Is A Highway 8>S
EMF: Unbelievable 8>)
Billie Myers: Kiss The Rain 8>)
Shawn Mullins: Rock-A-Bye 8>)
The Wonders: That Thing You Do 8>)
Oleta Adams: Get Here 8>S
Baz Luhrman: Everybody's Free To Wear Sunscreen 8>S
Jamiroquai: Virtual Insanity 8>)
And VH-1's choice for greatest ever (and most predictable) One-Hit Wonder?
Los Del Rio: HEEEEEEEEEEY MACARENA! 8>(
Any others?

The thing is that I remember most of the songs listed so far and I have a lot of them on old tapes of music from the radio.
I really loved The New Radicles' Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too album and I really hoped that they'd progress beyond You Get What You Give and Someday We'll Know.
Allure and 112's remake of All Cried Out from 1997 is memorable because Allure was one of the only artists on Mariah's Crave label and then shortly after, the record label crashed. I guess now Mariah has a new one named MonarC.
I also recall people thinking that Allure was really Mariah, another reason why the group never took off.

When I saw Chumbawamba play live, they played 'Tubthumping' (anyone spot the hidden anagram?) as an encore, as it was in the UK charts at the time. They came on stage all dressed as nuns, swigging from wine bottles, smoking lengthy hand-made cigarettes...well funny. The audience seemed to have an above-average amount of transsexuals in it, too... :o

I would have to say "Epic" by Faith No More
I personally hate the song, but it got enough play to let them sign a 5 record deal.
Once Mike Patton's testicles dropped the sound became much better, and harder.

Other:
"No Rain" - Blind Melon. I have all of their CD's and I have no clue why No Rain was their only hit. I like every song on all of their albums. Their first album was the best though. I don't know about anyone else, but I always get really sad whenever I listen to No Rain because I know they will never make another great song. :\'( It only happens with No Rain, no other songs. not even Sleepyhouse, which is a really sad song.
Honorable Mention:
"Breakfast At Tiffany's" - Deep Blue Something. Again, I don't know why this was their only hit. It's actually my least favorite song on the album. I like it though. :)

The Fugees were not a one hit wonder I don;t think. Why is Donna Lewis always labeled a one-hit wonder. She had that song with Richard Marx off the "Anastasia Soundtrack".

Mr. Windel-Arrested Development.
Boom Boom Boom- Outhere Brothers.
Pure-Lightning Seeds. (Guy sounds like a nerd!)
Ghetto Superstar-Mya.
Arresrted Development is not a one hit wonder. They had a hit with "Tennesee"and "Everyday People". Mya is not a one hit wonder either. She had a hit with Sisqo of R&B group Dru Hill in 1998. She also had other hits after that but I really don't care for her music.

I would have to say "Epic" by Faith No More
I personally hate the song, but it got enough play to let them sign a 5 record deal.
Once Mike Patton's testicles dropped the sound became much better, and harder.
I think Faith No More did score another hit with "Last Cup Of Sorrow" in 1997.

Better Than You - Lisa Keith (1993) :)

Lisa Keith had a hit song with Herb Alpert that was called "Makin Love In The Rain".

Here is what i liked: Filter - "Take my Picture" I think that was still back in 90`s.
I want to ask you guys a favor - check out my band here: www.pdogs.net and give me some feed-back! I would really appreciate it.
Filter is not a one-hit one hit wonder. They had a hit in 1995 with "Hey Man, Nice Shot" and in 1997 they had a song "Trip Like I Do" in which they collaborated with the electronica group "Crystal Method". "Trip Like I Do" was a hit song in 1997 I think.

Sorry Jamie, but Presidents were not 1HW's. They also charted with "Peaches" and their cover of "Video Killed The Radio Star" from The Wedding Singer's soundtrack.
Here are two that deserved to be 1HW's!
Meredith Brooks: I'm A B**ch (She wanted to change the meaning of the word? B.S.! She just resorted to cheap controversy just to sell a few records!)
Crash Test Dummies: MMM MMM MMM MMM (Talk about bad songwriting! And how were fans supposed to request that song in concert?)
And a few others I remember, but not necessarily liked. You'll be able to tell:
Gerardo: Rico Suave 8>S
Londonbeat: I've Been Thinking About You 8>)
Triplets: You Don't Have To Go Home 8>)
Blind Melon: No Rain 8>(
Blessid Union Of Souls: I Believe 8>)
Tom Cochrane: Life Is A Highway 8>S
EMF: Unbelievable 8>)
Billie Myers: Kiss The Rain 8>)
Shawn Mullins: Rock-A-Bye 8>)
The Wonders: That Thing You Do 8>)
Oleta Adams: Get Here 8>S
Baz Luhrman: Everybody's Free To Wear Sunscreen 8>S
Jamiroquai: Virtual Insanity 8>)
And VH-1's choice for greatest ever (and most predictable) One-Hit Wonder?
Los Del Rio: HEEEEEEEEEEY MACARENA! 8>(
Any others?
Your Pal,
Doc
Blesside Union of Souls are not a one-hit wonder. They 2 than Hey Leonardo(She Like For Me) wich was a hit in 1999. They also had a another hit song in 1995 with "Let Be The One".

Did it even make the Top-40? Is it considered a Herb Albert song only?
"Better Than You" just eclipsed everything else she did and made her a one hit wonder.

I don't know where "Better Than You" hit on the billboards. I don;t think "Makin Love In The Rain" crossed over onto the Top 40. I think "Makin In The Rain" was on a Lisa Keith album I think. I'll check up more onto that. I don't think she is a one-hit wonder.

You are Correct, "I Believe" by Blessid Union of Souls was their Biggest Hit and it Topped the Charts in April 1995. Also here is an interesting little tidbit about the song also (Taken from Rockonthenet.com)
The song "I Believe" was honored at the annual ASCAP Awards for being the fourth most played song of 1995.
Then "Let Me Be The One" was a Top 5 Song on the Charts in October 1995 (My personal favorite song from Blessid Union of Souls)
And "(Hey Leonardo) She Likes Me For Me" was Huge around May 1999
So I guess they wouldent really qualify as a One Hit Wonder, but they did only have 3 Hit Songs and they were all GREAT Songs, arguably 3 of some of the Best Songs of the 90's Period!

I think this was a 1 hit wonder, but about 10 years ago or something I heard a song on the radio. I think it was a fairly popular song. Anyway, I heard it in a store about a month ago, and I've been trying to find it ever since. It has an indian in it singing "ya ya yaaaa" or something. Its sorta of a pop song or something. Anyway, if anyone knows the name or band that sings it, it would be greatly appreciated. Please e-mail it to me at speedyink@gmail.com
PS My favorite one hit wonders:
Bittersweet symphony - the verve
Ditty - Paperboy
Ghetto Superstar - Mya

Lois Lane, a Dutch band that did a beautiful ballad "It's the First Time" in ´89. It entered in some force on MTV, aided by a really sensuous video with their two singers posing on a rocky beach and one of them gicing a seashell to a tenä-year old boy and then sweeoing away.
The girls dressed in fishing-net garments 8and i mean *real* fishing-net, not pantyhose) and became a rather big hit in Eiurope.
They've done a bunch of albums issued in Holland and the UK but generally it's their one big hit.

Another one I just thought of, how about "You Gotta Be (Love Will Save The Day)" by Des'ree from 1994 (Crossed over into 1995)
I remember hearing somewhere that that song was the Most played song of the 90's, plus I don't recall her ever having another "Hit" Song
I just looked at the old Top 40 Chart, and apparently the song was on the Top 40 Charts from September 1994 untill April 1995 (7 Whole Months, aka 28 Weeks) Which is the Longest any song had stayed on the Top 40 Charts in the 90's, and still holds the 2nd all time spot next to Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone" which was on the Charts for 33 Weeks
Just a little amazing fact 8)

Here is all the info on Des'ree's Hits in the US
http://search.atomz.com/search/?sp-a=0002070d-sp00000000&sp-q=Des%27ree
Only 2 Songs of hers made it on the Top 40 Charts, "You Gotta Be" (Which was on the Charts for 28 Weeks and reached it's highest peak at #3 on the Top 40 Charts), and "Feel So Good" (Which was on the Charts for only 9 Weeks and reached it's highest peak at #13 in the Top 40 Charts)
There is a little mention of another song that she released in 1998 called "Life" and it's listed as the 209th Hit (out of a possible 217) of 1998, yet it never was on the Top 40 Charts (Which leads me to assume it was only played on R&B Radio Stations) in America

Why is it that if someone is a 1 Hit Wonder in America, you always disagree and argue about it, but if someone is a 1 Hit Wonder in any other country, you have no problem with it?
It just kind of rubs me wrong sometimes when you try to claim to know more about 1 Hit Wonders in other countries than your own (Based just on info you look up without ever hearing the songs/artists at the time they were popular in certain countries to get an actual feel on whether they are considered 1 Hit Wonders or not). I mean, we're well aware of who is a 1 Hit Wonder in America. We don't need someone from another country telling us if we're wrong or not on who's a 1 Hit Wonder, we know our 1 Hit Wonders in our country
And you seem to get very angry very easily over nothing. That guy didn't yell at you or anything, he was simply correcting you, but of course you got all in a fit. It's almost impossible to discuss 1 Hit Wonders with you

I do believe that C&C Music had a massive hit in the US with "Things That Make You Go Hmmmmmm", "Here We Go" and "Just A Touch Of Love (Everyday)".
The Real McCoy had hits in the US with "Another Night", "Runaway", "Love & Devotion" and "One More Time".
See? I rest my case.
True, about Real McCoy. They had three good songs - "Another Night" (1994), "Come And Get Your Love" (1995), and "Run Away" (1997) that I can recall. And aren't they from Germany?
Haddaway will forever be known for"What is Love". A good early '90s song that makes me smile whenever I hear it. As for C&C, well I just never cared for them, so I don't care what they did.

Ok, I stand corrected with "Run Away" and its date. Will you all ever forgive me? Or must I run away ? :o
Note: I looks like 1994 and 1995 were RM's peak years in Europe and here in the U.S. I'm listening to their songs right now. Good stuff.
(That "Another Night" song is such a girl/chic song? ??? )
;D

Actually, "Run Away" is from 1995, not 1997.
Real McCoy are not 1 Hit Wonders in America. Both "Another Night" and "Run Away" peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and "Come And Get Your Love" charted high as well in 1995
Right. O0 "Come And Get Your Love" was a cover of a 70s song by Redbone, if I know my cover songs well.

It's a good cover too. Not bad, since I like the orginal.

I picked "The Freshman" by The Verve Pipe - I have fond memories associated with it from 1997.
Not necessarily my favourite one-hit wonder of the '90s, but just earlier today I was thinking about "Save Tonight" by Eagle Eye Cherry (from '97 or '98). I haven't heard it - or thought about it - in a long time, but I used to kind of like that song.

Those guys had at least two other hits: "All I Want" and "Walk On The Ocean" (both from circa 1992/93).

Oh yeah that's right! The thing is I never even heard the other ones so whenever I think of that band all I can think of is Good Intentions. I forgot they aren't one-hit wonders, lol. ???

My favorite is Seven Mary Three's "Cumbersome". I finally heard the rest of the CD and can see why they didn't have another hit. Not because the rest of the songs were bad, they just didn't have the same impact. "Water's Edge" is a close second to the sound.
I've read reviews of The Flys' album "Holiday Man" which contained "Got You (Where I Want You)". Seems some people were disappointed with the rest of the CD because it didn't have the same sound. That's also true for Sugar Ray's "Floored" (contained "Fly") and Smash Mouth's "Fush Yu Mang" (contained "Walking On The Sun"), mainly because their other songs didn't sound consistent with the hit of that time. I like both Sugar Ray and Smash Mouth, so even though the other songs aren't made of the same hit formula, it's still good (especially "Fush Yu Mang"). It's a shame both bands moved away from their core sound, but I can understand though. They found a larger audience and stuck with what works.
Oh yeah, another good one-hit-wonder is Ben Folds Five's "Brick". The whole album "Whatever And Ever Amen" is good too.
