Someone had started a topic like this on the old messageboard; I thought I'd start a new one. If you've already posted on the old one, feel free to post again. :)

Men behaving badly (hilariously vulgar yet poignant in parts)
Father Ted (Beautifully surreal)
The Simpsons (if you can call it a sitcom - one of the cleverest cartoons on the planet).

I kinda like Frasier too sometimes. :) My dad watches it periodically.
The cast seem to have a chemistry. They don't seem like they are method acting or detached like a lot of characters in sitcoms are (i.e A different world, My family, Just shoot me . . . ).

Also find Seinfeld entertaining. Party of Five was alright as well. Mad About You was good and it was funny and they(the writers I think)got too technical as the show aged along in its later years. I remember when Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt(the lead two characterson the show used to eat at this place and the girl from Friends(Phoebe was the waitress at the resteraunt that they used to go to.) The waitress just act confused all the time.

Frasier's good, from the American crop. From here in the UK I'd choose "The League Of Gentlemen".

I know Family Matters debuted at the tail end of the 80s (1989), but it was on mostly in the 90s.
By the way, I never heard of "Getting Personal"; was it like a short-lived show or something?

Nobody mentioned Becker. It was also in the early 00's but whatever. And I love Golden Girls. (Late 80's as well as early 90's) Every female can relate to that show. I challange you all to just watch one episode. You will be hooked. (unless you have no sense of humor.)

I used to watch Boy Meets World from about 1995 to '97 but I didn't find it all that exciting.
Oh, and "Hangin' With Mr. Cooper" was another show I enjoyed.

Yes to both questions, Ellipsis. It ran from 1982 to 1993.

You don't have to challenge me, Erin. I've seen both of them and enjoyed them. We tend to stick to time frames within each board if we can. I appreciate that there will always be grey areas - like the Paula Abdul thing. :)

Yeah it was on FOX in 1998 for 1 season. Had a few classic moments.

There were alot of great sitcoms in the '90s, so I'm sure I'm forgetting a few. Also I'm pretty sure a few of these shows came out in the '80s, but I only ever watched them in the '90s.
