Subject: Aeon Flux: from the first Liquid Television series

Written By: Tarzan Boy on 8/2/2001 at 9:57 p.m.

Does anyone know where I could find this on video? I recall watching these short animated films back in the mid-90s. I recently bought The Best Of Liquid TV thinking they had all the short films, but, to my dismay (and to their false advertisement), only the episodes from the second season where available (the back of the box has a picture from the a short from the first season). They're the short films in which they follow one single story which involves Aeon seeking a mysterious target - a man in a photograph - and in the end she seems him dead in a bed, and then she mistakenly steps on a nail and falls to her death. All the while there is some mysterious plague being spread by a spider and all the soldiers are falling victim to it (there are a few scenes where colorful hallucinations take place such as a grenade suddenly turning into a blowfish, and then suddenly a blast is heard...). A very bizarre story, to say the least. I'm curious as to whether this can be found on video or dvd. Just wonderin'.

Amazon has the three tape box set, which contains everything I ever remembered seeing on Mtv when it originally aired.. they only issued one DVD of the videos.. the user comments have a good run down of what's on the tapes

I guess it's tape 1 from the box set I'm looking for. Oddly enough, one short from the second season is not available on video: the one where Aeon climbs through a "monkey-bar"-like maze that leads her to an alien ship where she steals some small alien eggs and is then pursued by the alien/mother (at the end you only hear a "crunch" as Aeon falls victim yet again...). I may as well buy the whole set ($30 - not bad). Thanks for the info.

That was the good bit about the original shorts. We got to see lots of weird stuff, even if she had to die or "lose" that particular episode. When the full series came out with a proper story, my MTV attention span kicked in and I turned off :-) Still, I did buy the comic book just to see what it was like.
