As usual, Tarzan Boy has covered a lot. The man's a fountain of 90s knowledge! The political turmoil in the Philippines and Indonesia could be added as well, including the liberation of East Timor.

I can only give you suggestions. How about: the NATO bombing of Serbia; the submarine tragedy of in the Barents Sea; the middleast peace process breakdown; the US elections; the resignation of Heider from the Austrian parliament; the internet explosion (that is the one of the things any other generation cannot claim as theirs); the China espionage case; China getting MFN status (and Cuba is still under US sanctions - how two-faced can you get?); the WTO meetings; the Somalia fiasco; the fall of the USSR; the Tupac Amaru hostage stand off (three cheers for guerrilla tactics!); the rise and fall of the dotcom industry; the different Olympics; the World Cups; the economic decimation of Russia and Eastern Europe; North Ireland troubles (so what's new?); the coup d'etats in Ecuador, the Comoros islands, Fiji, Zaire (now Congo), and so on...
