Subject: Ranting about the 90's
Alright i just went through some of the supposed top 10 lists of fans of the "90's". All i would like to know is what kind of crack some of you people are smoking. It is perfectly okay to have your own taste in music, and i applaud all of you who have the guts to throw it out there but some of you should check to see first off where the 90's ended. Some lists seem to think that all music came from the year 2000. Have you even heard songs from before 1999. I have no problem with people showing there taste for music in the 90's (well maybe i do a little but I'll get to that in a moment), just do me the favor of showing a little flare for the entire decade.
Now i see some lists showing people like Britney Spears and the like. Well i hate to break it to you and you can go on liking them as much as you want but they do not represent MUSIC. They represent marketing and entertainment. Britney Spears doing a strip show for 50000 people isnt about her songs, its about showing off 18 year old ass to a panting male public and making 8 year old girls want to be like her.
Music is about finding the art in your soul that has something to say to a generation of people that may help them to realize that everyone has the same type of problems and that there are ways to succeed through them. Music makes you feel good and enriches your life, unlike marketing tools that ONLY look for the almighty dollar. Now almost every band would of course like to make it big but for more reasons than money. They want their voice heard and a mark left on the world while they have a chance.
im sorry for those of you who cant understand what im trying to say and i would love to hear all feedback, this is not about dissing one group or person but it is to try and open your eyes and especially ears to see that not all the world revolves around 50 dollar packaged videos and Christina Aguilera make-up kits.
PS- Last comment and it is about a specific song so for those i offend who like it please try and read without prejudice first
Britney Spear's song Lucky is the worst message in a song i have ever seen. First she tries to say that the song is not about her, well guess what when you star in the video it is always gonna be related to you( besides the fact you sang it). Now the message says to be nice cause fame is hard and tiring and you get no free time and people want to talk to you and interview you and take your picture, so please just leave me alone and let me have my privacy. Well guess what when you want to be famous thats what happens, so now we should feel sorry for you cause you got your dreams and money and fame, but please dont think this makes me a nice person or accesible.
The teeny bopper music of today is driving me insane, they dont have their own voice, most wouldnt know how to write a song if it bit them in the ass. Their are of course exceptions. and i am glad to see a little bit ability and talent besides shaking my ass, and (fake) tits to screaming fans
Sorry britney you are just the easiest target, so many more artists are unfortunately at the mercy of a very few record executives, but hey if it sells millions then its worth it to sell your soul
Last mention, for those of you have access to MUCH MUSIC from Canada, the best line came from Ed The Sock, on Fromage 2000(cheesiest music, videos of the year) He said "britney is no virgin, she's seen more shaft than an elevator"
maybe true, maybe not but definitely funny.

How about "Oops I did it again"? The PT's comming from that one-Yuck. What a thing to teach young girls.
And how about those boys (and I reiterate BOYS) ""I don't want to here you say "I want it that way"". What do they think? Girls are supposed to lay down and shut up, because these boys are such great lovers they know just what every woman wants every time. Grow up and if the woman says " a little harder and a little to the left baby" take it as a compliment that she is comfortable enough to tell you how she likes it instead of faking it. And girls, if your not comfortable enough with your partner to talk about sex, why are you having it with them?
That's my rant.

Sorry but I just have to say here that the Backstreet Boys (who, by the way, are adults, two of which are married men) aren't even discussing sex in that song. If you take the time to listen to the whole song you'll see that. Yes, the title is a bit cryptic, but why does everything HAVE to be about sex? It's basically a love song about give and take. I'm an eighties gal myself but do happen to enjoy a FEW of these new groups. Britney, I agree, is a LOUSY role model, and I can't stand her or the things she seems to represent. All I'm saying is that before any of us condemn a group or person for what they are saying in a song, we probably ought to be certain we know what that is.

Yeah, as if the "Japanese stuff" isn't oversaturated with pedophilic fare...
