Subject: Battle of the Bands( Ace of Base)
For all of you arguing about Ace of Base being the BEST BAND of the 90's, i have to say that you must stop doing crack now. First of all i will say that i LIKE Ace of Base, i have two of their albums, but i dont remember them ever going on tour in the states, or even playing instruments. They had good catchy music, slickly produced and enjoyable, but if you want to talk bands of the 90's that made great music while staying true to the soul of what artistry really is, try Pearl Jam, Tragically Hip, or even Collective Soul. The biggest reason these groups were and still are so great is because they move on from what made them succesful and try new things with their music, i know thousands of people who would like to hear Pearl Jam re-make a record like "10" but what would be the point, move on artistically and lend a hand to the future of music, dont follow in the footsteps of the crap like britney spears and nsync just for the sake of the almighty dollar. Ace of Base had to resort to a cover to hit the charts in America for the last album and they barely did that, why didnt they build on "All that she wants" for growth, Music is all about enjoyment so if you want to hear the same thing over and over again then right now is definitely the time to turn on your radio but if music ever wants to get out of the funk it currently enjoys( and i do mean enjoys with crappy albums such as Nsync and backstreet boys selling millions in their first week) we need a revolution, something to say rock and pop can be fun and exciting and most of all NEW. thanks for putting up with my rant, enjoy whatever music you want to but keep an ear to the ground for the real innovators

Ah, a sympathizer among the crowd. What an argument! Totally agree. The 90s was actually a good decade for music, but one has to search long and hard for it - the music is not on the radio, the videos are not on eMpTyV, so one must go to the "underground" and seek it out. I highly recommend for everyone to listen to Suede, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, VNV Nation, James, Morrissey, The Lords Of Acid, Razed In Black, Electronic, Enigma, and....many, many more. And then there are the early 90s bands and 80s bands that came out with some really powerful songs/albums - New Order, Soul Asylum, Sugar, Tears For Fears, Husker Du, Nirvana, INXS, Information Society, Alice In Chains, Tool, Soundgarden, Afghan Whigs, Blur, The Stone Temple Pilots, The The, Alphaville, Depeche Mode, Terrence Trent D'Arby, Air, and, to a certain extent, The Chemical Brothers, Ace Of Base, Nine Inch Nails, and Underworld (etc, etc, etc, etc). Whew...I could go on for hours, but, in short, it was a pretty good decade - only a notch below the 80s...
