Written By: loyalheart on 03/05/04 at 07:25 p.m.
first let me say yes i posted this at another site and two, i dont know where to post this so i'll post it in the decade i was last at an A&W , lol
------
Anyone remember thw A&W Restaurants? I know their still around but i havn't been to once since the mid 90's it seems!
Our local mall used to have one in the food court and YUM! i loved the little breaded hot dogs and then dip them in cheese, french fries and root bear. That was my favorite thing ...
I have no idea why A&W went out of the food court, and it seems like it took a few years until another restaurant replaced it (or opened) which was subway. but anyways, I went to A&W's website and noticed they dont seem to have those little hot dog's anymore.
something else i noticed is you can multibrand with the restruants. and i see KFC/Pizza hut, there is a multibrand nearby i just wish it was A&W =/
okay that's it lol, anyone have memories or opinions of the A&W?

A&W is cool, I went there the other day, they have the things where you park and order from a sign thing and they bring it out to your car. (No, not a "drive through")

I just saw an A&W/KFC last week. I never saw an A&W before that (don't know if they every had them in NJ). Anyway, if you are in the Philly area, there is one outside the Willow Grove Mall.

Man alive! They're all over western Canada.
I remember as a kid in the mid 1970's going to one and you drove up to a parking stall and left your headlights on. Some woman in a short skirt (McDonald's take note! ;)) would roller skate to your car, take your order, then bring your food on a tray that clamped onto your driver-side window. They haven't done that since the late 70's or so. Surprised to hear they still do that somewhere still!
I don't eat fast food too often, but I really like their Teen Burgers and onion rings.

A&W used to bring these heavy glass mugs on the tray to your car. The mugs were so great, I still have two of them!

Mmmmmm...momma burgers...*slurp*
Up until the late 80s you could still drive up to an A&W in town here and have your food brought out to you on a tray w/the glass root beer mugs. Though it wasn't by a girl in a short skirt and roller skates!!
No more like that here but there are A&W's ALLLLL over the place!!

There's an A&W in the big city (Char'town) it's set up like any other burger place except that if you eat in you have the choice of root beer in the paper cup or the giant frosted glass mug...mmmm must paln a trip there soon for the teen combo with rings and the root beer.
