Does anyone else, I record it with the set off,
when I watch it, I just fast-forward past the music scenes.

I stopped watching SNL by 1989 when I found "Kids In The Hall" and In "Living Colour" to be much funnier. I grew up with the original cast and characters of SNL in the 70's/early 80's. Once you had a taste of that all the rest seems kind of bland.
A buddy of mine has on older Sony VCR that has a fast forward function i've never seen on any other machine. You hit a special button and it would zip ahead so many minutes, and it turns out to be almost the entire commercial break sequence! Pretty handy indeed!

Anyone else view SNL, as a Great American Tradition?

Mad TV VS. SNL.
I'll take both.

I watched alot of SNL growing up. 1981 was the year I started to watch it on a consistent basis. Eddie Murphy and Joe Piscopo. I still watch it. A force of habit, I suppose. You will always find someone comparing the old SNL to the present. General consensus is that nothing beats the original and the more recent cast blows. I disagree.
SNL has always been hit and miss except for 1985. That year completely blew. As far as Mad Tv. I haven't watched enough to form an opinion. However I did like what I saw of Nicole Sullivan and Orlando Jones.

yea- snl was DEF an american tradition. i remember staying up and watching it with my family- and for some reason i always fell asleep at the fake news part. i guess that part was most boring for me- and i was little- so staying up that late was a hard thing to do! lol
