Subject: The Strangest Opening/Headliner combo you've seen?
Written By: gumbypiz on 01/01/04 at 11:01 p.m.
I saw the band "Bomb" open for "ween" in summer of 90 in D.C.
Bomb was this super wanabee Cult outfit with "bomb" spray-paint stenciled on all their equipment (imagine them trying to get through security checkpoints nowadays).Bomb had no-clue what or who ween was or what the people were there to see. Audience was completly cold.
Ween came out, knocked over all bombs equipment, then set up two mikes, one very-old analog drum machine and 1 guitar. Thats all they used. Then danced around with little daisys pasted on their foreheads..bizzare.
Whats the strangest opening/headling act you've seen?

The Ween/Bomb show will be hard to beat for weirdness as you described it. Ween was unique and would have liked to see them drop Bomb's equipment, musicians blowing up their equipment always had a note of "cool" to it!
Maybe weirdest thing I saw in a show was a long time ago, the Beachboys, and Dennis Wilson, the drummer walked around on the stage during their set, in a daze. Heard he was strung out during this period in his life and he died sometime later.
saw REM in 1985 at the U. of Colorado, and Michael Stipe, then with shaggy hair similar to Kurt Cobain's, staggared around on the stage during a few songs almost falling down. Looked strange but cool, reminded me of Jim Morrison.
