Subject: American Pyscho - query
Written By: kayhepburn on 08/05/03 at 05:57 a.m.
Can anyone help me with a query regarding the film "American Pyscho"??
I am always confused at the end of the film, after Patrick Bateman has left a confession message on his solicitor's (?) answer machine.
When he meets the solicitor shortly afterwards, he laughs off Patrick's claims, as he has recently met up with one of the people Patrick claims to have killed. He also call's Patrick by a different name (I can't remember what it was) Around the same time, Patrick's secretary finds a diary in his office with graphic drawings of murder's in it. Patrick then revisits the seen of most of his crimes, and all the bodies have disappeared.
Does anyone know if Patrick did actually kill those people, or was it all in his mind and that's why he drew them in his diary????????

American Psycho was quite a strange, odd and quite disturbing movie. The only highlight to the movie was seeing him half naked. ;)
I do not know the true answer to your question but my guess is that it was all in his mind.

I think the main twist in the film 'American Psycho' (so my friend said) was that he didn't commit the murders in the first place. It was all going on in his mind.

The film is based on a novel about a guy who just imagines himself as a killer. So none of the murders actually happen.

I thought it was a dream.

Whatever... the answer to kay's question is: No, he didn't actually kill anyone.
