Subject: 90s bands no longer around

Written By: FunkyFresh on 03/25/03 at 09:17 a.m.

Inspired by Eli Sheol's 80s topic, I looked around as well and didn't see a 90s topic for this subject.  What 90s groups did some of you really like that are no longer around?

Here are some of mine:

Nirvana
Smashing Pumpkins
Luscious Jackson
Jellyfish
The Refreshments
Moonpools and Caterpillars
Material Issue
Sublime
A Tribe Called Quest

I'm not sure, I think they're just on a really extended hiatus.  There hasn't been any word that they broke up as far as I'm aware.  Great band though.

The Black Crowes and Sepultura are still around. What makes you think they've split up?

I know that Sepultura are still around with a new singer, but what I mean with them and Crash Test Dummies is, Where are they now?

From all the info I have been able to find, the Black Crowes did split up, and there are no plans to reunite. But if you know otherwise, I stand corrected.

They are still around and released an album a few years ago called 'Freaked Out and Small'. They broke up in 1998 but got back together.

I know this is going to sound like really really bad bands compared to the music u guys have mentioned but who could forget:
1) Spice Girls
2) Hanson
3) Backstreet Boys
4) NSync
5) All Saints
6) 98 Degrees
7) Eve 6 ( maybe they are still around but I have not heard any of their songs on the radio and no new cd in almost 2 years and I haven't heard anything about them in a while)
I have a question, this is going to sound really dumb but are the Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam still around?

Yeah, they broke up back a couple years back.  However, the lead singer started a new band called Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers.  They have a few albums out and tour quite often.  The Peacemakers have a different style, but they still do play the old Refreshments songs at their shows.  My favorite song is "Girly", it rocks!

A sidenote about their song "Mexico", they originally titled it BOBA, which stood for Buffett on Bad Acid. ;D

Unfortunately, The Smashing Pumpkins broke up in 2001,but Billy Corgan has a new band called Zwan.  :)

Pearl Jam is still around. They went  "underground" since the mid 1990's.

CTD are based and Living in England. They are still talked about here in Winnipeg, and do the occational interview. Last I heard Brad was working on a solo album and the Dummies were in the Studio, but that was a few months ago.

I really liked October Project. If they split or something I'll be bummed. I actually paid money for both of their CD's.
I heard that the lead singer of October Project was the sister of the lead singer of Clannad.
Or maybe it was Enya. I'm confused now.

One of my stepson's friends told me that Soundgarden had broken up and I didn't believe it. I researched it and found out that they had. I was big time bummed.
I heard "Godless" on the radio by U.P.O. and the singer sounded so much like Chris Cornell I thought it was him. But since then I found out it wasn't.
But if you like Soundgarden you'll like U.P.O.
Download them and give them a listen.

"Outshined" is from the 'Badmotorfinger' album that was released in 1991! If it's a new release, it must be a re-release or remixed version because Chris Cornell has been touring with his new band Audislave since late last year, and Matt Cameron is now in Pearl Jam.

Please don't compare Chad Kroger to Chris Cornell. It's like comparing 'Dumb and Dumber' with '2001: A Space Odyssey' ;)
