Subject: The "Chief" From "Carmen Sandiego" has died...

Written By: Rice Cube on 03/14/03 at 03:05 p.m.

Yeah...I used to watch this show religiously all throughout the 90s.  Learned a lot of geography I didn't already know (which sounds redundant, take from it what you will).

Lynne Thigpen was 54.

Peace be with you, Chief.

I heard about this earlier today but Carmen Sandiego wasn't mentioned so I couldn't put a face to the name.  This sucks, she was young.  RIP Lynn

That is so sad! I watched her on "The District" too. She will be missed.

I remember she did a great job for playing the nasty parent in Lean On Me.  IMO She should have gotten a best supporting actress nomination for that.

That is so sad. She was great. Most people don't realize this but she was a Tony Winner (I forgot which catagory/show). She had does so much but most people remember her from Carman Sandiago. She will be missed.  :'(

She also played the radio DJ in the movie "The Warriors", which also featured Ginny Ortiz (Trini from "3-2-1 Contact") and Mercedes Ruehl.

I only saw her playing in "the district", she really had power. This series will never be the same without her.  :'(

Here you can find more about her:
