5. Don't really care for any of them, specifically. I see a strong woman as one that can hold her own; one that is secure of herself regardless of what other people might think of her. I also see a strong woman as someone who acknowledges and accepts her weakness and does the best she can despite them. Some might call this assertiveness, but there's a distinction between being aggressively assertive towards other people and being self-assertive.

7. Certainly; but my few of strong women doesn't necessarily match other people's views of them
8. I think she played the character of Ripley well in all of them.
9. Oprah Winfrey and Whoopie Goldberg (eventually) in The Color Purple. Of course, if you're looking for more of the war-torn style of heroine (ala Ripley) then perhaps Linda Hamilton in TII.

I would love to answer this, but please tell - is this

a) restricted to modern/contemporary film?
b) restricted to movies seen 1st-run in a movie theater?
c) are we supposed to think of a fave woman we THINK of as strong, or who just played a strong role (even if I think they stunk at it)
d) I'm confused by the last question's wording - are you asking for actors who were actually in strong roles (again, even if they stink at it, like Demi Moore), or who we think should be cast in strong roles (i.e., are convincing in strong roles, like Sigourney Weaver)?
