Would it be Blondie? I know she had a song called Maria around '97 or something, but I don't remember any lyrics, so this is just a guess.

That's what I was thinking, Lebiew, but I had the single of that, and I don't think it contained those lyrics... :-/ um... but that's the only track I can think of.

there's the Blondie one already mentioned but that goes...

it was Maria, by Ricky Martin
I think so, sounds like it too me!
Number 1 here in oz, and the highest selling single of 1998 here in Oz.
