Subject: Help identifiying song!!!
This is a tall order, but perhaps someone can help me.
Two things.
I am looking for the artist/title of a song I used to hear around '93-'95 (or thereabouts) on the radio. Some of the lyrics (scattered) include:
"if you're looking for devotion, talk to me"
"come with your heart in your hands"
"my love is guaranteed"
"show me, show me baby"
"youv'e got to give it to me give it to me give it to me yeah"
"I don't want no fakes I don't want no phonies" (not sure about this one???)
"i need your love"
"I'm not a toy I'm not a plaything"
Second-- does anyone remember any Cher songs from the 90s? About 1995-ish, or just 90s in general?
Sound familiar to anyone? Please help, this has been driving me crazy for years!!!
peace is the word,
Bunny

I'm certain it's one person, and-- this may sound strange-- being about ten when i first heard the song, and not having heard it in about as long, i'm not sure if it's male or female vocals. The music is sort of house/club/dance-ish. Not much to go on I know, but that's about as much as I can recall of the song.
Also, to everyone else-- Thank you for taking the time to offer the Cher help, I really do appreciate it! :-)
peace is the word,

Your "mystery song" is "Show Me Love" by Robin S, a big hit here in the U.S. in the Spring of '93. It was off her 1993 album, also titled Show Me Love. Fortunately, the album is still in print today on CD here in the U.S...
"Show Me Love" was definitely one of the best dance tunes of the '90s, IMO. Bought both the cassette maxi-single and the CD maxi-single myself... :-)

Thank you soooooooo much!!! I cannot tell you how grateful I am for your help-- I've been looking for this song forever! Thanks for cracking this mystery which has been plaguing my mind for so many years

PS to all: two more questions--
1) Does anyone remember a song that came out around '95, titled "Wishes" or "All That I Wish" (I'm not sure which one), it was a solo song by one of the guys from Boyz II Men, and the background music was a remake of another unrelated song from the 70s.
2) around the same time ('95-'96) a remake of the "Bohemian Rhapsody" came out, the music was done in rap-style . . . who is the artist on this one?
I don't mean to be so annoying :P , but I am working on a compilation of some of the old early 90's favorites that were the soundtrack to my adolescent-early teen years, and my memories are a bit bullet-riddled with time :D
Thanks for all the help, you guys are great!!!

I've only heard an R&B cover by The Braids...
Tarzan Boy

No problem. If only everyone who posted on these boards inquiring about a "mystery song" could provide as many lyrics (and fairly accurate ones, at that) as you did, lol. In fact, I'm surprised no one else here got that one sooner. (DJMidas must be on Summer vacation, lol...)
BTW, I believe the Cher tune you're looking for is "One By One", from the Summer of '96. It's in a similar vein to "Show Me Love", and was her best song of the '90s, IMO...

You're thinking of "Wishes" by Nathan Morris, a minor hit here in the U.S. in the Summer of '96. Yes, he's a member of Boyz II Men. The song sampled The Buffalo Springfield's 1967 hit, "For What it's Worth". It was off the soundtrack to the 1996 flick, "Kazaam". Fortunately, the soundtrack is still in print today on cassette here in the U.S. (for whatever reason, the CD version is apparently out-of-print!)...

Tarzan Boy is correct. "Bohemian Rhapsody" was covered by The Braids, and was a moderate hit here in the U.S. in the Fall of '96. It was originally off the soundtrack to the 1996 flick, "High School High", and later included on the duo's own 1999 album, Here We Come. Fortunately, both the High School High soundtrack and Here We Come are still in print today on CD here in the U.S...

Yep, made a few of those CD-R compilations of '70s & '80s music myself! :-)
