Subject: Kylie Minogue's
Written By: Adele on 06/21/02 at 09:18 a.m.
I enjoy listening to Kylie Minogue's music, especially her early Stock/Aitken/Waterman work. One of my favorites is "Better The Devil You Know." Just out of curiosity, what does that phrase mean? Even listening to the song doesn't seem to help me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! :)

... Kylie Minogue's *WHAT* ?! ;)
"Better The Devil You Know" is an old phrase ("Better The Devil You Know Than The Devil You Don't") that means even though you know what you're in for in a given situation, and you may not like it, it might still be preferable to stay there instead of changing the situation and possibly finding yourself in a worse position.
In the specific case of the song, she's been left by this guy before, but still they get back togethe once morer...

The SAW work she did in the late 80's and early 90's was pure cheese - but great pop stuff! She was my idol when I was 5! (But she also had Jason Donovan then, and I seriously believed I was going to marry him when I was older!- Decided now that I don't really want him anymore ;)) It's strange to see how she's my 5 year old cousins idol now :) I like a lot of her songs, from that era, but also some of her DeConstruction stuff and latest. Best early songs in my opinion would be:
Wouldn't Change A Thing
Better The Devil You Know
Got To Be Certain
Never Too Late
Confide In Me ( not SAW, but still a '94 release)

It's strange, because I've always prefered her most recent stuff. Songs like "Spinning Around", "In Your Eyes", and "Kids" with Robbie Williams. I think that as we enter the third millennium, a millennium of change, of advancement (of sorts) in every area possible (just think where we'll be come 2999) Kylie is one of the few that's managed to stay with the time, and change accordingly. Of course, the other obvious example is Madonna, among others.
