Subject: Ren and Stimpy
??? Does anyone know if there are any channels that still show Ren and Stimpy. I heard either VH1 or MTV showed it I also heard Nickolodean put it back on but I haven't seen it. Anyone know? thanks.

I think Ren & Stimpy is on VH1 and Spongebob Squarepants (my fav! j/k) is on MTV or the other way around. -- Junior

OK, now I'm going to have to dig up my old Ren & Stimpy tapes... Gotta get my dose of Mr. Horse.

I don't know about MTV--Spongebob is showing consistently on Nickelodeon.
I've seen Ren & and Stimpy on Nickelodeon for "special" programming. Like holidays, and the recent day off from school the kids got for Martin Luther King's birthday. (both my brothers had to work).

After the first six episodes of R&S, the original creator John Kricsfalusi was fired by MTV/Nickelodeon. The series went downhill from there.

I see Ren and Stimpy on VH1 alot. Mostly in the late evening.

Ren and Stimpy - (a very awesome show that I really didn't get when the show was on when I was 6)- has a time slot around 11 to 11:30 PM on VH1 and SpongeBob SquarePants which is still running as far as I know is shown on Nickelodeon.

I guess I never realized when they stopped showing Ren and Stimpy..my husband really liked them, although I never really did. I do remember that there was a big deal about that first creator being fired, maybe those "after" shows were the ones I really disliked, as I don't remember really "hating" them when I first watched them.
We have a videotape or two of them, and maybe you can still find those.. ???
On that note, my husband's brother in law actually has Ren and Stimpy tattooed on his feet..Ren on one and Stimpy on the other..guess he must've liked all their cartoons! ::)

How did the last names of Ren and Stimpy come about? I mean like Hoek and whatever Stimpy's last name was (it wasn't Cat, because it was on one of those trivia questions in the 90s).
Subject: Re: Ren and Stimpy
Ren's surname (" Hoek") apparently comes from John K's landlord, and Stimpy's name is "Stimpson J. Cat"
Subject: Re: Ren and Stimpy
I remember that Stimpy's name in the cartoon was Stimpson J. Cat. But I recently read in a newspaper's 90s trivia quiz where his surname was actually "Nederfur" or something like that. ???

Although Stimpy's last name was originally Cat, it was changed to Cadoogan. Ren's last name is usually spelled "Hoëk" although it could also be spelled "Höek." It's pronounced "Hork."

Not surprised - that was the actual name of the person from whom John K. took the nickname "Stimpy".

I don't have how to insert umlauts over the letters, so I have to just spell it out.

Don't you need to configure your computer especially to understand French (et alia) characters? I think my brother had to, to get Russian e-mails...

If you are running a Windows operating system, click on the Start button, click on Programs, then Accessories, and then Character Map. It may be found under System Tools. From Character Map, find the letter with the mark above it, click on it, then note the four-digit number. To print this character, press and hold Alt, then the four-digit number (this is important) on the keypad, not on the keyboard, then release Alt.

Hell, use them, I didn't even know what they were called-outside off 'dot dot thingies above a letter' ;D
I LOVED Ren and Stimpy!!! We used to go to a bar that played episodes of them on the tv screens above! What a treat to watch them while drunk as a skunk!! :o ;D
I still LOL whenever I catch an episode. Which is rare. :(
I like Sponge Bob also! :P
Subject: Re: Ren and Stimpy
Me, I loved all the episodes, except 4 a few that were played too much back then. of course, now if they were played, i wouldn't mind it at all.
i was 11 when they first came out, and it ended when i was 15.
i like spongebob too, i think it's better than any nicktoon they have on right now... especially those klasky-csupo ones that aren't fun to watch at all. >:(
