I was going to post a topic similar to this, since I graduated high school back in the dark ages of 1993.
Interesting someone made this topic exactly one year ago.

Wow, I can't believe Wreckx and Effects' Rumpshaker didn't make the Top 5 songs. ;D
Seriously though, I would have thought that Siamese Dream or In Utero would have been in the top 5 albums.

Man that is what I was thinking!!!
I don't remember Van Halen being popular at all in 1993. By 1992, 1993, the 80s had become very much yesterday's news. And where is Nirvana on that list? Someone should double check this list.
Makes you wonder why it's 2003 and the late 90s are still popular.

It's a Hit Parader list. For me, that explains everything.

Still... beats the hell out of a ROLLING STONE list. :)

Van Halen released For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge that year. That's most likely why they're on that list. Thier song Right Now off that album was pretty popular.
I don't get the AC/DC and Jackyl videos though. I used to watch MTV and VH1 all the time back then and I don't remember them having any videos.
Totally agree with STP though, loved them then and still do. Although I probably would have put Radiohead on that list instead of Van Halen or Soundgarden. And although I didn't real care for them then Nirvana definately should have been on that list.

I thought that was more around 1990.

"For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" was realeased in 1991; However "Van Halen Live: Right Here Right now" was released in february of 1993. Also Notice that it is most popular bands, and Van Halen could have been touring that year. Van Halens Next Album "Balance" was released in January of 1995, and it was also fairly popular. "The Very Best of Van Halen Vol 1" was released in late 1996, and it was also pretty popular due to the brief return of David Lee Roth.
