Tough one, wouldn't you say one was the progression of the other?? I was never totally into grunge and ditto numetal I like certain bands from each.Linkin Park are brilliant, they make me feel old though  ;D

Well, I AM into grunge, and I think nu metal is the closest thing to it, if you can't find any nearby college radio stations with decent signals. Instead of the standard bands that got all the hype in the early-to-mid 1990's, you've got to go to those stations to find the good stuff.  ;) Some people say that rock n' roll reached it's perfection the year you graduated from high school, but I say it happened seven-to-ten years later in my case.

Don't get me started on this Nu metal(rap metal) sh*t!  ::)

Out of the million bands maybe 3 have any talent. It's like the "boy band" phenomenon.  Give it another year or two and lets see who is still around. :)  Is there a game to see who can look more creepy and demonic?  :P

Remember when metal bands smiled for pictures? LOL It was kinda cheesy. Now all you see is that mean metal face. Which is acutally cheesy also! --LOL

I tend to agree with Rapture. Nu-Metal is B******s. There is only a small amount of talent there, but who'd want to listen to it anyway. It's corporately polished, badly written and it's a shame that young kids are been subjected to this garbage.

Grunge on the other hand is a valid form of music. And when speaking of grunge I always include the Pixies as part of that scene. Grunge is raw punk based rock music, or rather it was until s**t like pearl jam came out. Nirvana were so original and fresh at the time and the Pixies were alternative rock gods.

useless fact: a band is only nu-metal if they have a DJ in the band (like Linkin Park)

anyway, the only nu-metal band I like is Linkin Park, so grunge for me. i don't listen to grunge much though, but i suppose it is better ;D

I guess I like any hard rock, as long as it's, like, HARD!:). I know, I sound like the typical rebellious teen, but its true.:)

this is just my $0.02 but I was really pleased with Linkin Park and thought they were as fresh a band as I had heard.

That was until they re made the same album and made it even more of a rap genre.

People need to recognize when they have a decent thing going and stick with it.  Like I said its just my two cents

Grunge spawned about four or five really good bands and a legion of second-rate imitators.

Nu-metal spawned about two halfway-good bands, three really crappy ones and a legion of fifth-rate imitators.

I think I've made my position clear.
