Subject: 1980s Greatness

Written By: oldmusicfan on 03/26/20 at 1:11 pm

Were the 1980s really all that spectacular or were the bookmarks surrounding them a little better? Were the 1980s too long? Do you see the 1980s as 1978 to 1989 or 1980 to 1989?

Well, I can only speak for the 80s kid culture. It was the best decade ever for kids! The toys, cartoons, and music videos were fun and happy. If I could relive being a kid in the 80s again I would!

You didn’t think that 60s and 70s cartoons were authentic cartoons? You never got tired of every new cartoon being a 30 minute toy commercial?

I never got tired of anything I was a kid. Lol. Sorry, but cartoons in the 80s were better. They were fun, had unique concepts and taught kids real life lessons. Fun times.

What about everything else? Did you have any favorite discontinued foods from the 80s? Atari 2600 or Nintendo Entertainment System? Pastels or neon? Favorite female duo? Disco or rap? Freddy Krueger or Jason Voorhees?

In the 80s we never owned an Atari. I think my dad thought too many people had one...so he got us an Intellivision instead.

As for discontinued foods, I loved my Strawberry Shortcake cereal! I'm still asking myself why they stopped making it. It was soo good.

Could it have been dodgy food colouring involved?

Was 1984 the best year in all of recent history?

BTW, there was a similar sounding cereal in the UK back then, and I cannot the name of it.

I feel the same too, I grew up more during the 1980's cause I was 5 when the 70's ended.

Growing up I had an Atari 2600 and that was my first console.

You can always buy it online that's if it's still available for purchase.

I also remember Frankenberry cereal and they've been selling it during Halloween in October.

A classmate had an Intellivision. I never played it. I had a coleco vision.

He also had a c band dish when people paid a fortune to get free tv. That being said I loved my c band dish and still use it. But it came with the house.

My favorite 80s discontinued food I think was pringles butter and herbs.

I miss Hostess chocolate pudding pies. What an idea! The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles vanilla pudding pies were good too, but a step down from the chocolate.

It's actually artificial strawberry flavor.

Chocodiles were like Twinkies, but with a chocolate shell?

I never tasted them. I only saw them at the grocery store back in the day.

Hostess had an obsession with chocolate in the 70s and 80s.
