Relax, Fin. I like it too, along with the rest of the 'Knee Deep In The Hoopla' album, though after 30 years, I still don't know what that means!
It's a bit ironic, since I so love "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit" as well, more than "We Built This City." I just personally don't care if a band goes more commercial so long as I still enjoy what they put out. It's the same reason I absolutely love Phil Collins' 80s output in spite of how artsy and highbrow the material he was doing as part of Genesis was in the early and mid 70s.
Gotta admit, most of the others I'm not familiar with.

Most of the songs you didn't list were popular only in the UK but not the United States. I discovered them by collecting the original British Now series (or at least compiling individually purchased songs to represent them, since volumes 2 through 9 were never released on 2-disc CD's), as well as studying the UK Singles Chart.
