I'm also Australian. Here are a few 80s songs which I like that were released by Australian artists/bands.
Can't Help Myself - Flowers (1980)
Jessie's Girl - Rick Springfield (1981)
Reckless - Australian Crawl (1983)
Don't Dream It's Over - Crowded House (1986)
Beds Are Burning - Midnight Oil (1987)
Also, just as a side note, "Run to Paradise" is a great song. :)

I'm actually half Malaysian and spent my childhood in the 80s there. Despite never listening to Malay music at the time, I've had fun delving into it as an adult (and teenager).
There's better 80s music out there from Malaysia but unfortunately I'm bound by what YouTube has to offer.
