Subject: Sony Ad Material Circa 1983
Written By: AmericanGirl on 09/15/14 at 11:43 am
I found this early 1980s Sony ad going thru some old papers (no date, one reference to a camera said "available May 1983"):

As the embedded text may be illegible: "Imagine the excitement when Sony invented Betamax. For the first time, home video became a reality. And for millions of people just like you, home entertainment took a giant step into the future. But Sony didn't stop there. We went on to create a whole world of fabulous Betamax components and accessories. All combining to make up the most advanced video system imaginable. Any way you look at it, Betamax is the beginning. With Sony, how far it goes is up to you!" ;D

Wow, Betamax was a hot thing on the shelves. I wish I could go back 30 years and look at this Betamax.

The Beta VCRs were pretty special! Sadly our family's VCR was taken in a house burglary :-\\
You know something else cool then? Those little TVs (black and white as most of them were then). Battery powered, smaller than many a boom box. Portable, great for the kitchen. Plus, how fun to take your TV to the park and watch the football game during your company picnic! ;D
