What's your favorite year of the 80s? No, not decadeology like 1979-1993 or something. The years 1980-1989!!

So what's your favorite year out of those ten?

My favourite year in the 80s was 1985 for the following reasons.

1.  Some of my favourite bands came out of England that year
2.  Toronto was quite an enjoyable place to live at the time
3.  I was a kid and I felt like Peter Pan not wanting to grow up.  :)

I'd say...1980.  My last year of high school. Lots of amazing parties. Would have been a better year if that Mark David Chapman guy hadn't killed John Lennon. :\'(

1984 and 1985 were good too.

1989 was a great year for me too due to several unique and bizarre experiences. (A girl from Mexico wanted to marry me, weird story. Also, another married woman wanted to have me on several occasions. Spent so much energy turning her down and ended up dating her best friend which made her both happy and vengeful at the same time) :D

1989  Graduated high school and hit the real world.

I wasn't born yet, but 1980 was the worse years of the 80s for my family.

1984(because that's the year my sister was born). I also have great memories from 1985 and 1986. I still have my wonderful school photographs from the '85-'86 school year...with my totally awesome '80s fashion and pigtails!! Oh yeah, IN '80s STYLE BABY!...with unicorn sprinkles mhmm!.

Ahh yes.  I was in grade 3 the 1984/85 school year.  :)

But then during 1980 by accident I was about 5 years old a year earlier I cut my bangs and for the first few years it showed in my class pictures. :-[

I never cut my hair at all.  My school picture was a crop of curly locks that turned wavy by the time I was 12.  :)

I cut my hair by accident, I grabbed a pair of scissors while My Mother was doing some painting and I cut my bangs off. :-[

I would have to pick 1989 by virtue of being born in it.

I would have just become a teenager in 1984, almost ready for high school! Good times for sure.

Also 1988 was a good year because that's when New Kids On The Block were really really really popular with the females and the males always felt threatened by them for some reason or another that I, personally, couldn't fathom not liking them.  :)

Since I was born in the late 80s and I don't remember a thing I can't say I have experience with the 80s, but I would've loved to have 1984 as my favorite year.

1986 or 1987.

1989. I got my first Walkman and started making mixtapes. And the music was great. The light airy feel of the late 80s and early 90s. We did a lot because my dad finally had a good paying job. We went to Niagara Falls. Went camping for a week. Probably went up to the bridge. I also took my appearance into my own hands and changed my hair and clothes for the first time ever. It was a year before my health took another downturn so even though I was tiny I was doing pretty good.

Not a good thing but I still remember coming home from our fireworks show that year and we got detoured a couple miles from home. A couple horses got loose and got hit in the highway by 2 vehicles. I remember both, one was an early 80s VW pickup, and the other was a brand new Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. The song playing was Don’t Wanna Lose You by Gloria Estefan.

But a good thing about that year was the cars. They all looked great and the 1989 GM 3.1 is the best engine ever made IMO. 2 of my cars have that engine, 1 has over 300k and it’s so simple and cheap to work on but I rarely have to. Oldsmobile had this hi tech image and had crosslace alloys on their entire product line. Cars were still a couple years away from becoming 90s forgettable jellybean shapes. I was collecting ads and articles about the upcoming APV Dustbuster vans that hit dealers in fall 1989. They were my dream car at the time. The shape was lean and sculpted, it wasn’t jellybean at all. I owned 2 of them later on, had over 300k on one but I had to work on it a lot.

Probably the first part of 1980. That summer was one of the BEST summers of my life when I was involved in summer stock. For our first two shows, I was "production assistant." It was a fancy name for being the stage manager's gofer. I mainly got him coffee. I got to work backstage on the major productions and I was also involved in the children's theatre.

The decade went downhill from there.

1988 for me. One of the best summers of my life as I have the memory of the cross country road trip with my family. The spring, fall, and holiday season were great as well. 1989 is an honorable mention as the first half through summer was great as well, the 1988-89 school year when I was in the 4th grade. The 1986-87 school year when I was in 2nd grade was also a good time as well.

I don't know why, I was 5 years old just being a little kid and picked up a pair of scissors to give myself a haircut and I botched my "little boy" hair and it didn't grow back for another year.

All of them!

Although I was never alive at any point in this decade, I have formed conclusions based on pieces of culture from the time period regarding what I think my favorite year would have been from 1980-9.

And those conclusions would lead me to believe that that year would be 1988.

The best year of the 80s is 1983 when I graduated from high school, and 1986, when I started my career. And the worse period was between those years.
