Subject: Help identify the name of this tv show...please.

This show had an older man (he was the main character if not the only character most shows) who lived in the woods in a trailer or could have been just a small house. He played a musical instrument (flute maybe) and often taught a word or two in German during the episodes. I watched it on WTTW or WYCC in the 80's or early 90's but, the show could have been much older than that and rebroadcast. Please help it's driving me crazy not to remember the name.

Wow, Unfortunately, that's not ringing any bells in my mind. :(
