I've often said my favourite 80s song is 'Close My Eyes' by Paul Janz, and it still is ...

But just to mix it up, here are a few obscurities that I listen to quite often, most of which are seldom heard these days ...

It's a really good song. I'm old enough to remember that it received a fair amount of play on both CHUM-AM & CHUM-FM (In Toronto) back in 1985 or 1986. Wasn't too long after that when CHUM-AM switched to oldies format. It belongs on a list of "Why didn't this song chart higher?" with many other songs. I have this song on my computer and on an mp3. It has the mid 80s sound & feeling.
"Believe in me" was alsos a great song by Paul. That one was from later on in the 1980s.

Me too. My mom doesn't understand the attraction to Duran Duran but any music from the 1980s or earlier is my favourite.

I do once in a while like the today's songs but it doesn't compare to the 1980's.

I don't. I see no reason to listen to anything that today has to offer. I like music that's from 1980s or earlier because it's got more originality than any other decade of music. :)
But Duran Duran did a suitible mash up of Wild Boys and Lady Gaga's Poker Face. So I suppose if Duran Duran can take that song and make it sound good then it's not all that bad. :)

Being a visual person, I mostly like songs that go together with a cool video. As you can see my taste for songs and music videos varies a lot between genres:
Jessie's Girl (Rick Springfield)
Venus; Shy Boy; Na Na Hey Hey...; Really Saying Something; A Trick Of The Night (UK PWL version) (Bananarama)
Listen To Your Heart (Sonia)
Run To You; Summer of '69 (Bryan Adams)
For Your Eyes Only (Sheena Easton)
Little Lies (Fleetwood Mac)
These Dreams (Heart)
Careless Whisper (Wham!)
Bette Davis Eyes (Kim Carnes)
Woman (John Lennon)
They Don't Know (Tracey Ullman)
Valerie (Steve Winwood)
Mickey (Toni Basil)
Legs; Gimme All Your Lovin (ZZ Top)
So Serious (ELO)
Living On a Prayer (Bon Jovi)
I'm Still Standing (Elton John) yeah I know the video is campy and there are too many men for my taste, but I love Nice, Cannes and music videos shot on beaches
* Money For Nothing (Dire Straits - good song, nice guitar solo and 2 'easter egg' videos within the video, one of them featuring a very nice girl)
Got To Be Certain (the video is better than the song itself imo); Locomotion (AUS version from 1987); Hand On Your Heart Kylie Minogue
Take Me Up (Scotch, bad video, but nice song. It's the original of GTBC by Kylie and the melody sounds better)
Whenever You Need Somebody (Rick Astley, better than the so popular 'Together Forever' and 'Never Gonna Give You Up' and with a better, sunnier video too, featuring a hot girl on a beach)
and many more! see, the 80's is my most favorite decade of music as songs and music videos.
* - videos directed by the same director.

For some reasons some entries didn't show up, so:
Turning Japanese (The Vapors)
Kids In America (Kim Wilde)
Billie Jean (my favorite MJ song AND video)
Burning Up; Borderline; Into The Groove (Madonna)
Take One Me (a-ha)
[Money For Nothing (Dire Straits)
^the videos for the underlined songs were directed by the same director and I consider them as four of the TOP 10 greatest music videos ever.
