There was a great roots rock movement in America back in the early 80's. (Lord knows we could use one right now.)

There was a big '50s rock n roll revival in the early '70s too, heck glam rock is just rock n roll with outrageous costumes.
Artists like T Rex, Ruben and The Jets, Sha Na Na Na, Wizzard, and even Elton John(Crocodile Rock) brought back the sound of '50s rock n roll and doo wop around '71-'74.
