Subject: Cartoon intro - looking for similar songs
Written By: singer on 08/15/12 at 4:19 pm
Hi there!
This is one of my most favorite 80s TV intros:

Can someone suggest other songs that sound like it and that use similar drums? I wonder what kind of drum machine they used?

Vocals sound like Madonna, tune has elements of The Bangles and Debbie Gibson. I'd suggest any typical mid 80s bubblegum pop acts... The Jets, Pointer Sisters, early pre-Control Janet Jackson, Five Star, Culture Club etc.
Janet Jackson - Communication

Five Star - Crazy

If you can get past her vocals, La Toya Jackson's mid 80s albums were very poppy.

The first that came to mind was the Dutch group Doris D. and the Pins and their 1984 club hit Starting At the End

The melody of the song also sounds almost exactly like Neutron Dance by the Pointer Sisters...

Theme from 1987's Beverly Hills Teens? I'll play! My brain went to this this track:
MdgU1GQOUsI
- Philip Oakey and Giorgio Moroder, Shake It Up, 1985.

I remember bringing that album home from the mall and being disappointed just a bit. I expected better from that crew!

I mean, I wasn't expecting Wagner or something, but I thought, "It sounds like Moroder didn't spend more than two days working on this record."
He didn't.
:P
