Did anyone here watch Magnum, P.I. in the years it was on (1980-1988)? Was it big at the time?

I did, it was, and a Ferrari 308 of that era now costs around $35-40K. Not much more than you'd pay for a brand-new luxury sedan or SUV that would make you look like everybody else on the road.
So if you have the means, I highly suggest picking one up.

They could remake Magnum P.I. but there might have to be a Tom Selleck lookalike in this one if it ever happens.

Everybody who was anybody watched Magnum P.I.
You know you're a Magnum P.I. fan when you remember the cross-over episodes it had with 'Murder, She Wrote' and 'Simon and Simon' as well as the bit featuring Tom Selleck on the Magnum P.I. set in an episode of 'The Fall Guy'

Roger E. Mosely (T.C.), Larry Manetti (Rick) and John Hillerman (Higgins) are all still alive
Elisha Cook Jr. (Icepick) is not

You could bring back the show, but not the 'stache!

I read a rumour a while ago that they were reviving Magnum P.I. as a theatrical film, and Tom Selleck would be cast as Higgins. I don't know if that would be good or not, but I am leaning more towards not

Nonono, bad idea! It's like they wanted to make "32 Candles" with Molly Ringwald back about 10 years ago. Some things belong to the eighties. Leave them there.

And to this day Tom still has his moustache only it's a little grayer.

Good thing you reminded me about that. I did a quick search and found this:

I saw him in "Celebrity Ghost Stories" a few years ago he still looks the same as he did back in the Magnum PI days but a little older.

Oh ok MacGyver being revived now Magnum PI! Remember how "The Knight Rider" revival went a few years ago? The Hawaii-Five-0 revival has done ok I guess since its still on the air!
