All I recall is in the chorus a female (?) singing "slow down". I believe the person singing that line in the chorus is not the lead singer. Not much to go on, I know!

Pop/new wave, probably 1986(ish)-1990(ish). Please don't shoot me if it ends up being a 1998 rap song...

The big hook is right before the chorus. It gets all quiet and a female voice sings, "Slow..... down..... slooow..... dooooowwn."
Probably not it, but it's the only one that comes to mind.

THAT'S IT!!! This song popped into my head last week and I've been wracking my head trying to figure out what the heck it was. My sanity thanks you! Very surprised to learn it's from1993.
