w/ The English Beat and Naked Eyes? That's when you know they are on their way back to superstardom ;D
Seriously though, I am glad they are back touring. 'Reach the Beach' is one of the best albums of the 80s, and don't you forget it :)

I agree and will not forget it ;) I happen to like English Beat. I can do without Naked Eyes, however!

Rob Fisher died in 1999 so I don't know who's in the band now. I suppose Pete Byrne could do the entire show on a laptop.

"Shuttered Room" and "Reach the Beach" are awesome. However, I'd want to know before I bought tickets if Cy Curnin was going try some dreary "new material" gig with acoustic guitars. I mean, the cat's got an ego problem. He thinks he's a cross between Robert Fripp and Jesus Christ.

What's the band line-up this time around?
???
Cy Curnin - Vocalist
Jamie West-Oram - Guitar
Rupert Greenall - Keyboards
Adam Woods - Bass player
Dan K. Brown - Percussionist
I think they will play w/different bands in different cities.

I almost hit 'report to moderator', but oh, that's you! Heh.
We all know bands' time in the limelight can be fleeting. Duran Duran and Depeche Mode are one thing. Huge Brit megabands that still fill arenas. Check some of those videos in the playlist I linked, they used to be part of shows that had crowds so big you could see the curvature of the Earth in the pics! They are one of those rare bands that is so good, they keep producing and still command a large and devoted following. I think they're brilliant.

Out of curiosity, if it hasn't been me, why would you report it to a moderator?

'Always Something there to Remind Me' was their first hit, 'When the Lights Go Out' was another hit, and '(What) in the Name of Love' was their final hit

Hey Whistledog, my sarcasm meter was pegged, and I am a comedy school wash-out. People don't really get my attempts at humor most of the time :D

Someone posted something earlier about ego. I don't think Cy's ego is really a big deal. And he actually did do an acoustic-electric, small crowd event with Nick Harper earlier this year. Nick Harper is like a gypsy on the guitar, plucking away faster than you can see. Awesome.

He's a philanthropist, which, to me - negates any ego issues. He is very confident and passionate of his work, which is lyrically rich and complex - a trait not always found in today's music. Plus, we shouldn't want our rockers to be wishy-washy or lily-livered. I think that if they keep their distance from the crowd (which actually, he's very approachable), that only contributes to their mystique.

When did they break up? ???

When did they break up? ???
They never really broke up. It seemed like they did because they lost so much popularity since the mid-eighties, including a few periods of hiatus. The band also changed line-ups a few times.

They'd have to be crazy not to hit New York and Boston.

As you said, they'd have to be crazy not to hit the bigger cities! NY has some really great intimate venues that I wish they'd take advantage of.
