Subject: Nominate your Top Gun II soundtrack songs
Written By: Stinkyy on 05/16/11 at 5:39 pm
First, there is not going to be a Top Gun sequel that I know of, so don't freak out. This is just another song thread.
So to kick things off: Al Corley - Over Me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKeG36VDQU8
Has the same kind of tempo and color as Berlin...

First, there is not going to be a Top Gun sequel that I know of, so don't freak out.
There were two sequels:
The first sequel was by Sega: 1987's After Burner II. This was the moving cockpit game that John Connor was playing at the start of the Terminator II movie. (Three sequels if you want to count "I" for consoles, but I never saw AB1 in coin-op form.)

The Youtube video doesn't show it (because the player gets killed right before it appears), but one of the enemies in the 1987 game is an enemy aircraft that appears behind the player, too close for missiles, and firing its guns. A voice will tell you to "break right" or "break left". In the case of the enemy fighter, the only way to defeat it is straight out of the Top Gun movie: "hit the brakes, he'll fly right by". A bad idea in a flight sim or air combat, but great in a movie, or its video game sequel.
The second sequel was also by Sega: Just in time for the 20th anniversary, 2006's After Burner Climax.

Thanks, Yu Suzuki, for letting thousands of kids become "Top Gun" for a fistful of quarters.
As the gameplay videos demonstrate, anything off of either game's soundtrack qualifies.

Top Gun did have an actual sequel, but it was a video game only. Released in 1989, it was called 'Top Gun: The Second Mission'

So to nominate my picks for songs for the second Top Gun, I nominate the entire soundtrack from 'Top Gun: The Second Mission' lol
