I remember when that song was out - Nov.1987.
There were many people who hated it ** and some consider it more of a novelty song than anything else.
I also remember a "country" version of it coming out a little later,
but I've haven't been able to locate who or where that version was created.
** It was a little too "urban" *** sounding for them.
*** And I don't mean Keith Urban.

Still a fan - it was a big dance hit in 87-88. Just picked up another remix of it.

Not my favorite but at the time, I thought it was one of the coolest songs (I was 12).

Yeah, I like 'Pump up the volume'. It was created by six London DJ's (M/A/R/R/S is an acronym of the first letter of each name involved). Pump up the volume wasn't the first hit to feature samples (I know Paul Hardcastle was doing that kind of thing in 1985 with '19') but I think it was the first of it's kind to hit number 1 in the UK chart.
