Could we label some:
Early 80s (70s holdover) hairstyles, clothes styles, music, atmosphere (in movies and TV)
Mid 80s hairstyles, clothes styles, music, atmosphere (in movies and TV)
and
Late 80s (to early 90s) hairstyles, clothes styles, music, atmosphere (in movies and TV)
Also, what years would you say are the Early 80s culturally, mid 80s culturally and late 80s culturally?
When did the 70s trends finally die off?

I don't think the '80s began to look '80s-ish until around 1984. The reason I say that is because I looked at a lot of old yearbooks from my high school, including yearbooks from the '80s, and I noticed that most of the styles from the '70s remained in fashion until around 1984.
