It doesn't help that the film bombed at the box office, IIRC.

The Lloyd Alexander novels were awesome. I didn't want to give Disney a chance to spoil "The Black Cauldron."

I saw it. I don't remember any music being in it like the blockbusters that came later, but the story was good. I think the tanking came because of it being the first ever animated film to have a PG-rating(The Horned King was a pretty scary villain). Probably had parents worried that the film would give their kids nightmares. Food For Thought.
