Subject: Ferris Bueller, a criminal sociopath?
Written By: JamieMcBain on 09/06/10 at 5:49 pm
I am curious, could Ferris, be considered in real life, to be a cold, callous, calculating sociopath?
???

No, but Principal Rooney was a few sandwiches short of a picnic.

Ferris Bueller is R.P. "Mac" McMurphy from "One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest"! Think about it! He wins against Mr. Rooney, but he loses against Nurse Ratched!
Also compare the movie "Quick Change" (1990). Bill Murray, Geena Davis, Rand Quaid.
Grimm is Ferris. Phyllis is Sloane. Loomis is Cameron. In FBDO he's playing hooky. In "Quick Change" he's robbing banks. It only goes to show Mr. Rooney was right! It's a first class ticket to nowhere!

And at the request of the aggrieved families, John Hughes withdrew his original screenplay "Charles Manson's Day Off."

Ha ha, I agree there. I don't think I have ever had a teacher go to that much trouble to stop truancy. ;D
Ferris Beuller has sociopathic elements in his character but is probably just an over-the-top idea of what teens are like. I know quite a few older people that act like Beuller too, lol.

My high school principal was kind of a nutjob.
Our school had a closed-campus lunch policy, and there was a graveyard across the street from the school, and the principal would hide behind the gravestones with a trench coat and a pair of binoculars trying to catch kids sneaking down to the Farmers' Co-op Country Mart (a rural Kwik-E-Mart) to buy Mountain Dew and Twinkies. ::)

Your principal was definitely like Mr.Rooney, AL-B. He must have looked pretty dodgy wearing that trenchcoat spying on kids with binoculars, lol.
