Subject: Best Rapper in the 80s?
Written By: joeman on 08/09/10 at 8:06 pm
Which rapper from the 80s did you think had the most impact? I am going to go for the NWA, since their music changed the hip-hop scene and other rap groups adopted to this new style of rap music. Plus, most of the NWA members became famous after the group broke up.

Best or most impact..?
Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five = most impact, at least with cuts and mixes. Maybe. Hell I dunno...
Personally, I liked L.L. Cool J better...

I believe that Run DMC had the largest influence. They hit the scene and brought hip-hop into a new direction and to the masses. Remember the guitars in Rock Box and King of Rock? Not to mention Walk This Way with Aerosmith.
NWA was influential since Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and Eazy-E were in the group. However, Ice-T is the one who broke ground in the "Gangsta Rap" area.
