Subject: More New Wave "Mystery" songs and your help...
Written By: WLIRFan on 06/02/10 at 10:19 am
Here a few more lyrics from songs that I had originally heard and taped while listening to WLIR in '83 and '84...
Female singer...worked all day get his 2 week vacation
I shut the door and walked into the street
14 days is not enough to get to know somebody
14 days is not enough to get to know somebody
Male singer...When I first saw you something stirred within me
...if I could have held you, I would have held you
Rip it up and start again
Male singer...I go for a walk
Maybe catch a ride
You know I'll swim that river to the other side
Before you go don't you know it's cold outside
I don't know what love is anymore...

and one more...
Male singer...(a very lively song)
Won't you listen to me (x3)
Big brother's watching
He wants your back
You see right through his disguise
He tries to scare us, with angry words
But we know that they're lies
Wake up it's 1984
Looking forward to your replies...

Google is your friend when searching for songs when you have some lyrics already.

Midas...here is one that hasn't been "found" and a few others...
Male singer...I go for a walk
Maybe catch a ride
You know I'll swim that river to the other side
Before you go don't you know it's cold outside
I don't know what love is anymore...
Male singer...(frantic pace on my recording) The damage, the damage is done(repeat 2-3x)
..yeah,yeah,yeah,yeah...woooo
Male singer...Why don't we both surrender
before we both get burned
so many shots fired
so many daggers thrown
can you think of anything we have learned from this madness
...I throw up my hands, my hands to you
Male singer...Standing in the morning sun
wonder how it may come
We can dance a thousand years
We can dance forever and ever

I don't know if I'd call it frantic, but how about the Sisters of Mercy, The Damage Done (Youtube for some audio.)

Foo Bar,
This SOM song is not the version that I had taped off WLIR back in 1983.
The version I have is frantic and the male singer has a lively, upbeat delivery.
I keep searching but still haven't been able to find the official title and group.
