Subject: Which music video is this?
Written By: Guest on 05/30/10 at 8:01 pm
Hi,
I was just wondering what the name of a particular music video from the 80s was. In the video, there was a room with robots and puppets moving around. The song was an instrumental with synths and drums. Any idea who the artist is or what the name of the song is? Thanks!

I'm guessing it's the song "Rock it" by Herbie Hancock

Unimpeachable coolness:
Hancock got his start playing piano with Miles Davis' quintet in 1963:
Miles Davis: Trumpet
Ron Carter: Bass
Tony Williams: Drums
Wayne Shorter: Tenor saxophone
Herbie Hancock: Piano
You had to be a set of brass balls and peerless musicianship to survive with Miles. He didn't screw around.
So, when the synth-pop scratch sound came out in the early '80s, Hancock had a listen and threw his hat in the ring. The result was one of THE best instrumental pop hits of the '80s!
:)
