they aren't Fisher Price Little People, but are very similar.

I have hazy memories of having a toy like that called Popple People. This would have beenin the mid-70s. But I can't find any images on-line, except for the furry animal things.

They bear a resemblance to these Fisher-Price people (available over several generations, but they don't quite match with the ones thus far logged, nor do they match these impostors.
They also bear a resemblance to Lego minifigs, but don't quite match. (Any markings on 'em? Are their feet indented? I'm wondering if they weren't from one of the Lego clone companies that sprouted up with Lego's patent on the bricks expired...)
Interesting mystery here!

I thought maybe playmobil too, but i couldn't find a match. they have absolutely no markings, but the bottoms are indented like a large lego... so i thought Duplo? but couldn't find anything there either. it's so weird because i swear i had these as a kid, but have no idea what they are and it's making me crazy!!!

I wanna say yes, but...

...nope, the eyes are just a little bit smaller in your figures than the Playmobil ones. But much like the various generations of Fisher-Price people, the design may have changed every decade or so. They don't match the first few hits, but they're damn close. How many generations of Playmobil were there?
Let's try another tack: If you didn't take the picture yourself, do you remember where you originally found that picture?
(In the meantime, Lego doesn't have a monopoly on lulzy re-enactments of current events and classical stories. This thread has led me to discover some Playmobil folks who've been into it too :)

Got it! They are called Lil Playmates. I think Playmates is the brand name. How did I figure this out?? I found another one at a garage sale this weekend, and it came in a little truck, which also had no markings. The trucks tires matched the tires of some little trucks my aunt was just showing me the day before. One of those trucks had "Playmates" on the bottom! Ding ding ding, we have a winner!!
