Subject: Springsteen & DeNiro honored by Kennedy Center
Written By: Doc Brown on 12/30/09 at 10:45 pm
Did anyone see it last night?
The tribute performance to Bruce was particularly good, though it would have been nice for John Mellencamp to show up sober, then he might not have screwed up the lyrics to "Born In The USA". Or is he just not aging well at all? Melissa Etheridge's "Born To Run" rendition was particularly memorable, as well as Eddie Vedder's playing "My City Of Ruins". I wish someone had sung "Streets Of Philadelphia", which won Bruce the Oscar in 1993, but Sting did an awesome performance of "The Rising", one could have almost gotten confused who the standing ovation was for!
Anyone who caught the show, please let me know what you thought!
Your Pal,
Doc
