Could be interesting, I agree with that last line, hope they keep the theme song :)

I hope it doesn't suck and taint the reputation of the movie as an 80s classic...

The fact that they are making this almost 15 years since the original film leaves a few questions on whether it will be a success or not.
Over the years, TV shows based on 80s movies have come and gone, and most of them sank: 'Fast Times', 'Baby Boom', 'Down and Out in Beverly Hills', 'Gung Ho' and 'Starman' (though the latter one did have 1 full season before being cancelled)
Among ones that actually ran more than 1 season were: 'Nine to Five', 'Friday the 13th: the Series', 'Poltergeist: The Legacy' and 'Private Benjamin'
