Subject: Oliver Cheatham

Oliver Cheatham is an American born R&B vocalist best remembered as a one hit wonder for his 1983 hit 'Get Down Saturday Night'. Despite several charting singles into the U.S. R&B chart, his only entry into the US Hot 100 was his uncredited duet with Jocelyn Brown on her 1984 hit 'Somebody Else's Guy'.
In 2003, Cheatham had a resurrection in popularity when Italian DJ Vito "Junior Jack" Lucente adopted an alias called Room 5 and sampled 'Get Down Saturday Night'. The resulting track titled 'Make Luv' stormed the UK chart at #1 where it spent a 4 week reign at the top, prompting Cheatham to tour live to promote the song. Further result led to the duo collaborating on a second single titled 'Music and You'. What has become of Cheatham these days?
In a strange coincidence, his first ever hit and last ever hit in the UK both peaked at #38

When the Quebec channel MusiquePlus used to broadcast episodes of the now defunct UK chart show 'Top of the Pops', I saw the one where Cheatham and Junior Jack performed 'Make Luv'.
I liked it so much that I went out and bought the CD single. I actually prefer the follow-up 'Music and You' better, so much that it's in my Top 10 favourite songs of the 2000s. Will Cheatham record any new material in the future? I hope so. 'Get Down Saturday Night' is a MUST have for any 80s fan!

I dug "Make Luv" when it came out. Energy-FM played it all the time. O0
