Hi Everyone!

As many of you know, I love the fashions of th 1980s and have been looking for an excuse to tap back into the style of the era.

Luckily for me, fashion trends this spring are neon covered and bright with colors of the era. (My boyfriend) and I was wondering what kinds of clothes I could wear that would give off a retro 80s vibe with out me looking like I was in costume and trying to be an extra in Purple Rain.

I really do like the fashions and want to dress up in the styles. Please help. Will appreciate any advice.

Please keep in mind I am a curvy woman (12/14) and am only 22 years old.  ;)

(Extra Karma to anyone that can give me an Apollonia insired outfit WITHOUT me looking like a hooker! LOL!

If I can make any recommendation at all - DO NOT ever wear NEON YELLOW.
It didn't work well in the 80's and I am sure it isn't going to work well today.
Sweaters and tops... anyone standing next to you will end up with a yellow reflection on their neck and face. It is horrible. 8-P

Only other thing I can think of right now is to get yourself a pair of baggy jeans, then fold and roll up the bottoms, so they are a tight cuff above your ankle. Some white slouch socks will work as well. As I think of more I will be sure to post for you! 8)

I agree, neon yellow is a pretty ugly looking color.

I have noticed definite 80's trends floating around the high school.  Bigger hair (bump it, teased, or Heroin hair)... Pants with suspenders (the mens look in general - ties and such... on girls with big white oxford and tights or skinny jeans underneath)...  Pumps (and wearing pumps with jeans) in every color imaginable... Jean skirts and fashion tights...  shirt dresses - and tights....  Oh and side ponytails (this time worn low on the neck)

80's is definately making a comeback

I really like all those pics above, but I especially like the outfit laying flat with the black tshirt with the pink hairdo on it, hot pink headphones and sneakers with the tiara and black mini skirt!!

If you don't want to wear a mini, though, the black jeans to the right would work with it too!

I used to dress like that!!!  It was all Madonna's fault!!  :)

Man! I'm so happy I could scream! I missed the 80s the first time a round this time, I'm at the right age to have the optimum fin with it! Dang it I'm so excited. Those clothes are wicked cute.

And I actually have a pair of Baby Phat brand shoes that look just like those multicolored hightops, just not all glittery.

And about my girl Apollonia...her fashion sense really comfuses me at times, so I don't really look to her current style for inspiration because I don't want people pointing and laughing and crashing cars from rubbernecking. Apple really need to put her puppies in the kennel because they look like two hobos fighting over a pork chop in those dresses.  :(

But to be honest, I did rip off her lingerie look last week. I didn't actuall wear linderies, but my boyfriend say th e reference right away. I roe a red tank top, black jeans, black pumps and cinched my wait with a black an red lace belt. I topped it off with a black lace glove. I looked good.  ;D
