Subject: The Battle of the Bonds

In 1971, following the release of 'Diamonds Are Forever', Sean Connery told his wife he would never play James Bond again, and thus the reins were handed over to the great Roger Moore. Quite skeptical of his decicision, her response was "never say never again"
Released in 1983, 'Never Say Never Again' was a loose remake of 'Thunderball' and brought Sean Connery back to the role as Bond. It was the first Bond film to use a non-Ian Fleming originated title, and as it was not produced by EON Productions, it is therefore not considered part of the official James Bond collection
It was originally slated to be released in June in competition with the official EON production 'Octopussy' starring Roger Moore as James Bond, but due to the box office domination of 'Return of the Jedi', it was pushed to an October release, so it would have a fair chance
♦ Never Say Never Again grossed $160 Million
♦ Octopussy grossed $188 Million

'Never Say Never Again' has been released on Blu-Ray Disc. Just got my copy the other day :)
Oddly enough, 'Octopussy' has not seen a Blu-Ray release yet, but of course, all Bonds films are on DVD

There was only 1 true bond. Sean Penn Connery.
Roger Moore wasn't bad...but he wasn't Sean Connery.

I don't think I've ever watched a Bond film in it's entirety (except for two in the 00s). However the image of Bond for me personally will always be Roger Moore - perhaps due to my age. His '73 to '85 timeframe fits my childhood.

Connery is the one and only.

Having seen all the different Bonds over the years, I still liked Timothy Dalton the best, despite only 2 films for him in the role. He had that young, suave look that no other Bond had. I didn't really care for 'License to Kill', but I LOVED 'The Living Daylights;
For me though, the best bond film ever is still 'GoldenEye'. That opening sequence where Pierce rides off the cliff from the motorcycle into the plane simply dazzled me to no end when I saw that in theatres. Second would be Roger Moore in 'For Your Eyes Only'. That ski scene with the bob sled track was very entertaining!
The WORST Bond for me was 'Moonraker'. It starts off as a spy film and ends up as Star Wars. The part where Jaws is biting through the cables made me laugh. I did like the film, and I know Bond films do have their humourous elements in them, but I honestly found that one more comical than adventurous

Dalton the best, really? He seemed a bit stiff. I enjoyed Connery (of course) and a little bit of Pierce Brosnan. I had high hopes for Daniel Craig after Casino Royale. Bond is a secret agent, he has to kick some butt and kill a few people along the way. Thats what i enjoyed about Casino Royale.
I have not seen the latest Bond movie, but I heard it wasnt good. There goes my high hopes for Daniel Craig!

I agree with Sean Connery being the ultimate James Bond, though I do like Roger Moore too, the one I don't like is Daniel Craig, not that I don't like him as an actor - in fact I think he is very good at his job - but James Bond is suppose to be able to charm any woman - except Miss Moneypenny - and Daniel Craig doesn't have the look, he's make an excellent bad guy though.
