Her hair when she was on "You Can't Do That On Television" was pretty bad. Kid's shouldn't have such butch hair cuts.

The following pictures are real high school photos from the class of 1988 in some California highschool. You might find it hard to believe that this is real, and not people parodying 80's styles, or edited photos because they look a little ridiculous, but these are real high school photos. ;D

I don't see anything wrong with anyone's hair. It looks like a page out of my high school year book. BTW I hope you're a member of the smite club.

I spotted one of the hairstyles I had in the 80s in those photos. Earlier than 88 though, more like 1983 I think

Oh no. I'm not putting down every one of their hair. There's just a few who have crazier hair than I've seen in my day ;)

Those are actually the more normal ones. Notice they're wearing catholic school uniforms. Ever seen pictures of the lead singer from the group Flock of Seagulls?

Yes I have! With like the bangs in the face and what not.
The people in the very first picture stood out to me. There are three people next to each other, a guy and 2 girls with bigger hair than I remember seeing during my childhood.
My sister (class of 1987) had some pretty big hair though. I remember she used a lot of aquanet. My brother's girl friends (class of 1990) had big hair too.

This is one part of the '80s I obviously didnt go through firsthand, but I remember alot of my teen (and 20s) babysitters having hair like that. ;) I love 80s pop culture, but when it comes to fashion and hair, that's one aspect I could never really get into. It's cool how they took alot of time to make it look good...but I like the more laid back, casual look of the '90s (and now too).

You need the feathered front with the shaved step in the back look. 8) Where you inadvertently subjected to mass quantities of clorifomic carbons due to Aqua Net addicted caregivers?

Apparently Whitney Houston also had some crazy hairstyles, not just in the I Wanna Dance With Somebody video:

She's very close to a comeback! The music industry is buzzing about her (even though she performed nothing but '90s songs last night.) Clive (shown on the right) was presented with a lifetime achievement award last night and some brand news pictures of him and Whitney have just been released.

I like Whitney's hair. I wouldn't be able to fit in my car, but it looks good.
Is it weird that I have a pair of earrings like hers? 8)

How on earth did she manage to get her hair to stay like that?
I like it too, actually.

Yeah I like Whitney's late 80s hair too, like in the "Wanna Dance With Somebody" video. Some people can pull it off better than others, and she looked cute with it.

Funny you mention that 'cause it sorta reminds me of that late 90s haircut some guys had, where they did a buzzcut on the bottom half and the top was like a bowlcut. I forget what it was called.
I don't think I could pull of a Flock of Seagulls hairstyle though. ;D

here's my take: the hairdos from then may seem crazy by today's standards but at least people back then were more original and not so afraid to be individuals. Almost all you see nowadays on highschoolers is long, flat-ironed hair on the girls and either a buzzcut or the 'surfer boy mop' on the boys. Looking at those old '80s yearbook photos though, you really see some diversity.

The 80s definitely had the weirdest hair of any decade. I think what makes 80's hair stand out is the variety. The 60s, 70s, 90s, had a couple weird styles that were popular, but pretty much everything was done at some point in the 80's. the most stereotypical thing would be a perm or mullet, though many people actually did have straight hair in the 80s as well.

A chick mullet meant one thing and one thing only...
:-X
In the first part of the '80s, the Heavy Metal dudes carried over Steve Tyler and Led Zeppelin hair-dos. Then you had more glammy bands from LA, especially Motley Crue, on the scene. I think the poodle haircuts on late '80s 'metal bands evolved from there!

Big hair was biggest in 1987, at least here in the Northeast. The style became a parody of itself once again and fell out of fashion.
I didn't like them. That year, I liked Sinead O'Connor!

I guess it depends on where you lived.

Well, based on me watching a bunch of 80's movies I realized that in the movies that hair was biggest during the 1987 and 1988 era. But you could be right with your answer because I guess it depends on where you live.
